On our podcast, we discussed the café’s Lazy Labrador Coffee House and Honeysuckle Biscuits & Bakery. Here are a few more details about my experience, as well as the histories and missions of both café’s.

The Lazy Labrador Coffee House is located in downtown Kennesaw and is a quick drive from the KSU campus. They offer a variety of coffees, teas, smoothies, muffins, scones, cookies, and many more. It is a great place to meet friends, but the atmosphere is also cozy and a comfortable place to get homework done. The menu has a good amount of options, as well as milk alternatives, and the pricing is also reasonable. I ordered a Caffe Mocha and my friend got a Vanilla Creme frozen blended drink, and we both enjoyed our drinks. The Lazy Labrador has two levels of indoor seating, as well as a large outdoor seating area, however, they do have limited parking spaces.

Through research, I learned about the history of the Lazy Lab. In 2019, Bob and Susan, a retired couple, wanted to become more invested in their community and acquired a historic Queen Anne style home built in 1909 located in the heart of the entertainment and historic district of downtown Kennesaw. The house underwent an extensive historic renovation, and with oversight from the Kennesaw Historic Preservation Commission, it is a contributing property to Kennesaw’s Historic District and was recognized for its 'outstanding contribution to the preservation of Cobb heritage' by the Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society. It opened its doors in 2021 and gave locals a place to relax, hang out, and enjoy a variety of drinks and bakery items.
Mission: They want to provide their customers with the finest hand-roasted sustainably sourced specialty and craft coffee in a unique and inviting setting to build a more vibrant and connected community in historic downtown Kennesaw.
Overall, I think the Lazy Labrador Coffee House is a cute and cozy place to hang out with friends or get homework done. I like the variety of drinks and bakery options, and would definitely go back.

Honeysuckle Biscuits & Bakery is located in downtown Kennesaw and is a quick drive from the KSU campus. They offer a variety of biscuits, breakfast items, lunch items, bakery items, and coffee. The atmosphere is also bright and open, which makes it a great place to sit with friends and do work. There were a variety of menu options ranging from breakfast items like biscuits, to bakery items like ice cream and cheesecake. There are not many coffee options, but they do have an extensive amount of bakery items, at a reasonable price. I ordered a chai tea latte and a chicken salad croissant, which were both good. As for seating, there is a decent amount of indoor seating with a few tables outside.

Honeysuckle Biscuits & Bakery opened in 2018 by Lori and Mitch Phillips. Lori Phillips grew up on Honeysuckle Court (which she thought would be a good name for a bakery) and enjoyed baking biscuits, cakes, and cookies with her mother and grandmother. She dreamed of owning her own business and eventually achieved it when she and her husband, Mitch, had the idea of starting their own bakery featuring her mom’s homemade biscuits. They set out to accomplish a few things with their bakery, including being a gathering place for families, college students, and friends, creating a unique environment with homemade treats, having high quality coffee, and being a warm and inviting place where everyone is welcome, loved, comfortable, and desires to return.
Mission: To combine imagination and creativity with tempting flavors, quality ingredients, and friendly service to provide the finest experience worthy of remembering, returning and recommending.
Overall, I think Honeysuckle Biscuits & Bakery is a great place to either hang out with friends or go to get work done. They have a wide variety of menu options and good coffee, so I would definitely go back.

We hope you enjoyed this Sip Sensation!
